Christian and Hopeful Pass the River

This image is the final result of a long and laborious process. Having lost the original photographs and being very reluctant to remove the enlargements from their frames I finally decided to try to use my digital camera (a Canon PowerShot S1 IS, 3.2 Mp, 35-350mm zoom) to take a photo of the enlargement hanging in our dining room. (This enlargement is itself a reproduction of one of the final test photos by means of a copy negative and the wonderful folks at Black's Camera.) Because I wanted to avoid reflection off of the glass as much as possible I placed the enlargement on the floor beneath a featureless ceiling and turned on all the lights in the room (a mixture of fluorescent and incandescent fixtures). The camera was setup on a tripod at maximum extension to minimize parallax as much as possible and the photo itself was taken without flash and with a delayed shutter release to minimize camera shake. Several images were made and the best was tweaked using GIMP for Windows to remove the parallax that did occur and to enhance the colours to more accurately reflect the actual colour of the stained glass panel and its frame. Overall I am unreasonably proud of the result and I hope that you like it as well.
