here I am, Lord

once the child

thrilled to be alive

now the man

confronted by life

it changes

it

continues

the child I was is not the man

I am

yet is

somewhere within

confusion abounds me

this soul bends

twists and almost snaps

this child sees life

and longs to leap

this man lives life

and knows

mourning and dancing

together
