I took the chalk within my hand

to write upon the board

a tale of me through all the years

I wrote upon it all I’ve done

and all the things I thought

and stood back and looked

what I wrote in white

now showed up as black

such a load of evil

to be carried by my name

and anchored by it to my death

in shame I wept

I cried to God

He took it all away
