it doesn’t matter who you are

when you ask “Would you like to …”

I just want to tell you “Whatever …”

I can’t work up the smiles like before

for all the “us” things we like to do

enthusiasm has become a stranger

has been a stranger for far too long

but how can I shatter your dreams

how can I dash them against my gloom

enthusiasm may be hard to fake

it’s not as hard as letting you down
