My Fault

Pastor Don’s been teaching communication

these past two weeks

and the next two, too

one of his themes has been how

we’ll blame the other

for whatever

seeing their speck

and not

finding our plank

it gets weird, though

I have the advantage over everyone

forever, since my earliest remembering

I’ve been hearing that it’s my fault

whatever the thing is

I was/am/will be responsible

the weight of so many years

pressing this truth upon me

so deep

that my first response was/is/will be

what did I

say, see, speak or do

wrong
