“We cant be certain of God”

you say, all gracious and  kind

at once pompous and disdainful

as if your doubt could deny my faith

dogmatism opposing dogma

(and the humour eludes you)

but what you mean to say is

“I dont want the certainty I know”

wishing intently by your denial

to receive the blessing and yet

remain within your curse

but how can hate inherit love

you are not uncertain at all

merely terrified that lies waiting

the certain result of your hate

We Can't be Certain of God
