SPACE TRILOGY
(see A Word on the Theology of C. S. Lewis)
Here is a list of the three volumes of C. S. Lewis' Space Trilogy:
Out of the Silent Planet ~ The main character of the series, a Dr. Ransom, is kidnapped and taken as a sacrifice to Mars where he learns that the fall of Adam and Eve affected the universe differently than it did Earth. Through this book C. S. Lewis ably explores the connection between the fall of man and the corruption of the universe that was one of the results of the fall.
Perelandra ~ Dr. Ransom is requested to travel to Venus (I won't give away the method, it alone makes the book a worthwhile read) to perform an important task for God. When he arrives he discovers that he is involved in a theological debate with his kidnapper of Out of the Silent Planet who has been sent to Venus for the express purpose of making its first parents fall to temptation as did our first parents on Earth.
That Hideous Strength ~ Dr. Ransom appears once again, this time as the heir to King Arthur, in a community where a very powerful organization is seeking to rebuild the Tower of Babel. Told mostly from the point of view of various supporting characters That Hideous Strength applies the lessons learned in Out of the Silent Planet and Perelandra to a very real situation in a very real modern society.
