founded
Christian Spotlight on Entertainment ~ I have removed the link to this movie review site simply because many movies that incorporate themes antagonistic toward God are uncritically reviewed and too often praised. The enjoyment of any entertainment that causes the Christian to justify it by saying "I know that such and such is wicked but it teaches so many valuable lessons" cannot possibly please God. Their review of the 2005 movie "Bewitched" (starring Will Ferrell and Nicole Kidman) forced me to make this decision which I had been considering for several months. Christians must realize that obedience to God demands abstinence from many of the "world's" pleasures; we don't and thus destroy our presentation of the Gospel of Jesus and doom others to death. Is our pleasure worth someone's eternal state?
Cross Way Publications Internet Directory ~ Many poems by Christian authors can be found here.
Eternal Perspective Ministries ~ Founded by Randy Alcorn, Eternal Perspective Ministries seeks to encourage Christians to put their eyes on the eternal kingdom and their hope in Jesus (rather than on the earthly kingdom with hope in material possessions or man's teaching). collection of facts disproving the lie of evolution

The Key is beautiful, unique, and pleasantly entertaining. Several other excellent games (such as Final Destination (The Secret of Larson's Folly) - an adventure of discovery on a long forgotten planet - and Azariah's Labyrinth - a simple room with a simple exit, or is it) are also available at this site. Each of these games is very highly recommended! Jonathan Cooper, the man behind these games, is also part of the team behind the Starman Series, science fiction from the old school and highly enjoyable because of that.
Jesus and the End-Time ~ An excellent discussion of the second coming of Jesus from a very well balanced Biblical perspective.
Acts 1:8 Top 1000 (seems to be no longer maintained)
Top Bible Sites (maintained and moderated by my friend Stephen Simpson)
ARJ Software ~ Archiving
program, similar to PKZIP but with many additional features
CDex ~ One of the finest audio recorders and converters available today. Many options and output formats including MP3, WAV and WMA. (March 2005 - The CDex site is apparently down but CDex is still available at SourceForge.)
The Chocolate Factory ~ If you live in Toronto, especially in the north end, and you enjoy chocolate, or know people who, do you owe yourself a visit to The Chocolate Factory. This is quite simply the finest chocolate store in the GTA. A wide variety of chocolate treats are available, from Truffles right on through to formed chocolate and delicious gift baskets. You can find The Chocolate Factory right next to my office, at 504 & 506 Gordon Baker Road in North York, Ontario. ELM Computer Systems Inc. ~ Computer software & service office where I work as technical support specialist.
FileZilla ~ An excellent utility for transferring files to and from FTP sites. Much better and faster than using Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer.

Google also provides a tool named DeskBar which offers Internet and site specific searching from the Windows toolbar.
Open Office ~ An very capable office suite. Allows you to view and modify Microsoft Office format files as well as create XML format files by default. If you are looking for a functional office suite you could do far worse than Open Office.

RHEM ~ An incredible game, along the lines of the Myst series, that is one vast interconnected puzzle. It must be seen to be believed. Knut Mueller, the author of RHEM has since created two sequels to RHEM named, oddly enough, RHEM 2 and RHEM 3, both of which take place in the same "world" as RHEM. All three are a visual treat and will provide countless hours of pleasure. There is absolutely no violence or in-appropriate content, simply and amazing series of incredible puzzles. (while online movies can be viewed over a dial-up connection they will be far more enjoyable if you are able to use a high speed connection)
Photography ~ I am a bit of a hobbyist when it comes to photography (some of my favourite personal photos can be viewed on my Images page). My mom and dad both have an active interest in taking good pictures and I joyfully inherited that trait. Mom got me started in photography by giving me an old, 120 format camera and in my late teens Dad and I began exploring the delight of 35 mm SLR photography. Currently I have parked my 35 mm SLR (a Minolta X-700 outfit) and have begun using digital cameras. I have found the experience of digital photography to be truly a pleasure (no processing delay, immediate image analysis and lower cost of experimenting being among the greatest advantages). Below are links to some pages that I have found useful in my search for the "perfect" digital camera, as well as being valuable in the artistic sense (especially "The Luminous Landscape"). I hope you like them as much as I do.
Imaging Resource ~ Exhaustive reviews of digital imaging products (cameras, scanners and printers). I have found the reviews here to be very informative and unbiased.
IrfanView ~ The best image viewer available and it's free! In the words of a man whom I respect more than any other: "IrfanView works like a charm...Thanks a lot!"
The Luminous Landscapes ~ Certainly one of the better general photographic sites on the internet with fair and useful analysis of many digital cameras and photographic techniques. There is a great deal of information here that can help you to take better pictures, regardless of the camera that you use. 2007-05-16 ~ While the previous is still true this site has been disturbing of late with its author's view that art is pre-eminent over all other considerations. I disagree with this view and, especially after his comments on a photo put on his home page earlier this week, have therefore removed the link to his website from this page. It has also been deleted from my browser's favourites list.
Air1 ~ Streaming Christian radio. "...using Christian Music to spread the message of Jesus Christ to the world."
CFMX, Classical 96.3 FM ~ Streaming Classical radio. South-Central Ontario's finest radio station. (My personal favourite, in case you couldn't tell.)

Baby Rhebergen ~ A website maintained by some very proud (and rightfully so) parents. Also contains numerous links to other Rhebergen web sites.

(whose wife is a Rhebergen) in The
Netherlands. Much of this site is in Dutch, though Peter does include an English
translation prepared by my father
Rhebergen.net ~ A web portal specifically for Rhebergens, contains links to other sites of interest to Rhebergen.
Security ~ Please remember that antivirus, firewall and spyware programs listed below must not only be installed on your computer but they must also be kept up to date in order to maintain their effectiveness in protecting your computer. I recommend that you update virus definitions at least on a weekly basis and that you update firewall and spyware software at least every two or three weeks. Most of the above programs offer an automatic or manual update feature, look for this feature and use it often.
Ad-Aware ~ A tool that is very useful in detecting and removing spyware from your system. The free version does not include the active prevention that is included in SpyBot Search and Destroy.
AVG Anti-Virus System ~ Excellent Windows and DOS based anti-virus software from Grisoft, regularly updated and quite reliable. It will run on almost any system. Free for personal use.
CWS Shredder ~ Some spyware cannot be removed by Ad-Aware or SpyBot Search and Destroy among them is a particularly nasty piece of work named Cool Web Search (CWS). CWS Shredder removes this program and is highly recommended by those who have used it. The writer of this software is also responsible for the excellent analysis tool HijackThis.
F-PROT ~ DOS based anti-virus software, quite comprehensive and reasonably fast.
HijackThis ~ HijackThis scans your browser for what are known as Browser Helper Objects (BHO) which are a frequent manner in which spyware is manifested on your computer. HijackThis lists all items it finds allowing you to investigate and delete them if necessary. HijackThis is used to best advantage by those who know what should and should not be running on their PC, it can be dangerous in the wrong hands!
McAfee Stinger ~ Released by McAfee Security the Stinger antivirus tool is a free download that scans for and removes most current viruses. At around one mega-byte in size it is a fast download even on a dial-up connection.
SpyBot Search and Destroy ~ One of the best tools for removing the vast number of malicious spyware software that can be installed on your computer and report confidential personal information to unauthorized individuals. SpyBot also provides an inoculate feature that prevents most spyware from being reinstalled as well as allowing you to permit or deny modifications to the Windows registry.
SpywareBlaster ~ A handy little spyware innoculator that prevents many types of spyware infection; for use with Internet Explorer and most Mozilla based browsers.
Sygate Personal Firewall (now owned by Symantec and no longer free) ~ Sygate prevents unauthorized software from connecting to the internet from your computer. As a computer technician I highly recommend the use of an antivirus program in conjunction with at least a software firewall such as Sygate (a hardware firewall such as is common in most routers available today is also highly recommended). Even better is to complement these necessary tools with anti-spyware software.
Symantec Virus Removal Tools ~ The tools at this site will remove specific viruses from your system.
Zone Alarm ~ Software firewall similar to Sygate Personal Firewall but with a slightly different feature set. Very good and very popular.
To the best of my knowledge software listed on this page is free, excepting software at ELM Computer Systems Inc.
