Pause

I stood inside one timeless moment

lambent Moon dancing on the lake

a breeze lazying off to somewhere else

wafting Lilac-scent of a thousand hills

through this evening with my friend

and I knew, I could not have disbelieved

had you given me countless otherwises

that time had held its tick and tock

had let me pause beyond its flow

to breathe, to know the joy of having life

to be overcome by astonishing wonder
