June 12-15, 2019

we used to use DDT, that is

until we learned it killed the Eagles

Not the big ones

just the little ones

Before they could be hatched

It weakened their shells so much

they would be crushed as their parent

tried to hatch them out

Once we learned that, though

we stopped using DDT

Now the only babies we kill

are our own

We have learned, but

we have not yet learned enough
