Dependencies

I rely on my Bible, a lot

to the exclusion of much else

the Psalms (all of them)

the words in red (all of them)

and Habakkuk (all of him, too)

but I can’t read all day long

there’s work to be done

household chores

gainful employment

and appointments

so I delegate my care to music

hours and hours of music

sweet calming music

they’re right, you know

music soothes the savage soul

and is safer by far

than drugs

or the trust of a stranger
