I’m not sure which are worse

the monsters surrounding me

or those that I surround

one can surely kill my body

bullets, rocks and fists

even words may harm

yet the pain must end

with the beating

but those others kill my soul

demons clutch and writhe

squirming any hole

a no holds barred attack

death alone will end

if one over one could choose

would choose neither terror

but cling instead to life
