Rufus

my dog greets life

eyes looking forward

happily wagging his tail

for all that comes his way

his delight at just being alive

is palpable, and

a joy to behold, and

I am jealous

I wish I could greet life

like my dog

I like living. I have sometimes been

wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow,

but through it all I still know quite certainly

that just to be alive is a grand thing.
