in Degas’ “The Dance Lesson” there is a young lady standing alone (upper right, between the windows) hands out-spreading her skirt gazing down as if in admiration of the amazing beauty about to be there are other young ladies (more prominent, in the foreground) but I am with this one all on her own I cannot help but smile along with her joy in what she was about to be
