the moon’s a reflection

an image of life

marred on its skin

(though solid beneath)

its wounds are its beauty

the overcoming

its treasure

bright as diamonds

on the night’s velvet mantle

with which it’s sometimes cloaked

but always there

shining more often than not

glorified in its triumph

master of the skies
