Veneer

it is very thin, this me I let you see

impossibly thin but as hard as steel

dangerously thin yet able to hide all

of me I’d rather you not encounter

a thin hollow shell of life I let you see

embracing an emptiness infinities deep

and temporary, so incredibly temporary

this thin me fleets and flits, and dies

the instant I’m out of your sight
