you sit across from me

speaking at your turn

proceeding quite well

until you say a line

that leads all to laugh

you pause

respectful

of their/our need to laugh

but then a surprise

as it goes too far

anger flits across your face

or it looks as such

while others laugh

you sit silent

wronged

you think you are

and I believe you are right

and I sympathize with you

but as you thought before

we all have needs

for laughter
