It was to have been amazing

warm breezes

brilliant skies

sunlit stream

idyllic repose

romantic isolation

‘neath unfolded shade

But it wasn't

the breeze blew cold

the skies fell wet

the stream flowed drear

the shore felt hard

the shade fell over

Years later, all they held were their smiles

as they recalled their delight to be together

despite all their plans gone ‘wrong’
