Artemis II

I want to get excited about the Artemis missions

I do, I really do

but I've been raised on Mercury, Gemini and Apollo

they've captivated my immagination since forever

especially Apollo

its glorious white spear thundering into the skies

Armstrong's oft-quoted (and questioned) first words

even magnificent rescue on the brink of catastrophe

what more would a pre-teen boy need than this

on which to build his dreams

Artemis is spectacular, don't get me wrong

yet, to ride upon her glory

it feels almost like leaving my great first love
