I hate this world!

and the things of it

we, once destined for joy

crawl hungrily in pain

our noblest emotions

perverted

our hands

perfect for lifting up

so often strike down

and mouths that should be praising God

deny Him without tears

oh God, take me up

this evil thunders down

strikes my heart

lifts my fear

where

in all this storm of life

can I rest

I am too tired

too weak

to do your good, God

I fear to give up

but I dread going on

I need you Lord

near me

to save me
