seems somewhat extreme, but then ...

maybe he thought to punish them

for their apparent lack of diligence

but how do you punish an act of God

maybe he thought to warn others

try prevent a repeat of such laxity

but how do you prevent an act of God

maybe he thought to assert his place

let everyone know that HE was king

but how do you preempt an act of God

maybe he thought to be evil

prove his allegiance to his chosen lord

but how do you presume to act as God
