What Would I Have Done?

what would I have done

that morning

that cold, cruel morning

I would have heard the stories

I would have seen the wonders

I would have noted the teachings

and

I could have seen the entry

I might have gathered palms

I may have not stood silent

but

would I have despaired our glory

would I have mourned our loss

would I have cried “Crucify!”

alongside a raucous mob
